Wellness Wednesday - Point Blank Candle Co.

There is nothing better than lighting a candle at the end of a long day!! The smell can be intoxicating, relaxing and can transport you to a different world! However, many of the candles sold in stores like Bath and Body Works are cheaply made and, as a result, contain a host of toxic chemicals that you SHOULD NOT be inhaling! Since I do enjoy burning candles I was on a mission to swap out my Toxic ones and find a cleaner option!

Enter Point Blank Candle Co… I had the pleasure of meeting one of the creators behind Point Blank Candle Co. when I stumbled upon her booth at the Holiday Market in Toronto last year! Sarah was so sweet and really took the time to share her story and how Point Blank Candles came to be.

Point Blank Candle Co. is the love child of sisters Sarah and Ali. And it was born from the desire to create and share their passion with the people who they hold most dear in their hearts!

Their candles are created in small batches and are hand-poured in Toronto, no machinery is used. They are made from 100% soy wax, which means they are also 100% vegan, biodegradable, and free of harmful toxins and chemicals!

Each of their candles have been created with a personality of their own, which is inspired by real live people in Sarah and Ali's lives! The candle labels are even designed and hand drawn by Ali, which is a labour of love and adds to the uniqueness of these candles!

Their motto is “point blank is a state of mind. If you feel it, say it. If you want it, go for it. And if you know who you are, own it.” I love this motto and I try to live up to this standard every day!

They have 9 different candles to choose from:

Daisy Chain - Smells like pink macaroons and fresh fruit on a summer day.

Moon Child - Smells like the harvest with hints of pumpkin and pecan warming in the oven.

90s Baby - Smells like a handful of strawberry Pop Rocks, fizzing ferociously on the tip of your tongue.

The Wishing Hour - Smells like a moonlit garden with hints of fresh lavender and eucalyptus.

Little Monster - Smells like a tenacious blend of citrus and sage.

Look Alive - Smells like freshly-plucked peppermint leaves and rosemary.

2 faced - Smells like roasted hazelnuts..

Red Lips - Smells like the earthy sweetness of a sunset with hints of vanilla, bergamot, and golden patchouli.

Tom Boy - Smells like a forest of fir and evergreen, where no two leaves are ever alike.

I picked up two delicious candles: Moon Child which, to me, smells like the holidays! It's like comfort food for the soul! And reminds me of pumpkin pie or something yummy cooking in the oven. I used this candle all winter for that cozy warm feeling! I also picked up 90s Baby and although I consider myself an 80s baby I did grow up in the 90s era, so it is perfect for me! This is my summer candle and its smells “playful and carefree", if that makes sense! It's a delicious smell like strawberries and melon and it will be essential for those long summer nights!

Why is it important to look for a natural candle that uses soy/beeswax and cotton wicks???

Well most candles are made with paraffin wax which is a petroleum byproduct and when you burn it it releases cancerous chemicals like formaldehyde, benzene and Toluene. You definitely don't want to be inhaling these chemicals! Also most other candles use synthetic fragrance and colours which can be a dangerous and toxic mixture of hundreds of different chemicals so you definitely want to stay away from that! Also most traditional candle wicks made with lead and that can also pose a health concern to all of us so I recommend staying away from candles that still use lead wicks as well!

Point Blank Candles do not use any of the above in their candles so you can be sure you are getting an all-natural and a SAFE clean burn when you light one of their candles. I am so happy this company is locally owned and I love the passion behind their brand!

You can purchase an 8 oz candle directly from their website for $20.00 each. This might seem a bit steep but these candles do have a 45-50 hour burn time and trust me it's a small price to pay for a quality natural soy candle!
