Saturday Skin Care - Burts Bees Shampoo/Body Wash (Unscented)

When I was expecting my daughter I purchased a whole bunch of baby products to get ready for her arrival. One of these products, of course, was a baby body wash/shampoo. I thought I was doing okay because I purchased a product from the “Natural” Johnson and Johnson’s baby line.

However I was fooled by the “natural” label on this product, in fact, it wasn’t very natural at all! Some of the chemical ingredients are Parfum (hormone disruptor), Phenoxyethanol (skin irritant and possible neurotoxin), Acrylates/C10-3o Alkyl Acrylates and Ethylhexylglycerin (skin irritants). In addition this product is a very dirty 9 on the Think Dirty App.

Initially I wasn’t concerned with using the Johnson’s and Johnson’s line because the hospital, where my daughter was delivered, actually bathed my daughter, for the first time, using this product and gave me a sample to take home!!! I was a bit mystified that a hospital would be using a product that could potentially be a health hazard! But I digress…

After making this discovery my next thought was to check out Burts Bees Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash… but this was also a 9 on the Think Dirty App mainly due to the “fragrance” added to this product! Thank goodness Burts Bees has a fragrance free Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash!.. Hallelujah… and I am happy to say it’s only a 3 on the Think Dirty App!

Considering 60% of the products applied to our skin are actually absorbed I am much happier with a rating of 3 as opposed to a 9 or 10 for a baby wash product! Burts Bees Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash (Fragrance Free) is a great product! I admit I do miss the sweet honey scent from the original one but I am willing to give up any artificial fragrance for the health of my baby!

This product is tear free and safe for my daughter's delicate skin. It’s formulated with aloe and oat flour and is made with 99.9% natural and plant based formula without phthalates, parabens, petroleum or SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and is pediatrician tested!

Even though the lathering chemicals are left out of this product it still had a great lather and definitely cleaned my baby's skin! It also has a very light fragrance despite being fragrance free, I suspect it’s from the natural oils in the product!

I recommend this product to all the new mommies out there or any expecting mothers!
