How many mascaras do you go through a year? 1, 2, 3... maybe more? And if you are like me you probably just simply throw them out when your done with them! Have you ever thought of re-purposing your used mascara wands? No, I am not talking about using them to groom your eyebrows, exfoliate your lips or using them to clean around your faucets, although those are all great ideas! I am talk about helping to save some cute little baby animals!

Recently I’ve heard of an initiative, Wands for Wildlife, that uses old mascara wands to remove fly eggs and larva from the fur of animals! The larva and fly eggs can be removed very easily with these mascara wands because the bristles are so close together.

They have also been useful in helping to remove nats, flees and other pests from animal fur.

So instead of tossing your old mascara wands in the trash why not donate them to a good cause and help out an animal or two at the same time.

The above images are from Wands for Wildlife and show that a little love and attention can go along way to helping out our furry friends.

All you have to do is wash your old mascara brushes with soap and water and send them to this address: Appalachian Wild P.O. Box 1211 Skyland, NC 28776

You can read more about the cause here.

Don’t have any old mascara wands you can donate, why not treat yourself to a new “clearer” mascara and donate your old “dirty” one to this very worthy cause!

Now you a certified wildlife rescuer!! You go!
