I realize I am a bit late in posting this blog since we are already midway through January, but the beginning of this year has been a very busy time already and I really wanted to give some serious thought to my “New Years Resolutions”. I didn’t want some fluffy “I want to lose 10 pounds” resolution goals… although let’s be honest… because of the holidays a loss of 10 pounds would be ideal! However, instead I have done some soul searching and tried to really think about the things that matter to me entering into 2018….
Below are a list of the “resolutions” I hope to keep in 2018... so lets gets stared.
1. I already posted this on my Instagram page which you can find @simplytrulyjenny. This resolution is about taking better care of myself. I resolve to continue to make an effort to put better things in and on my body. This resolution is also about not saying things to myself that I wouldn’t say to my daughter… and if I am really honest this might be a tough one! We all focus too much on the negative aspect of ourselves and I am sure we are all guilty of negative self-talk every day. So I am going to make a conscious effort to stop the negative self-talk and replace that language with positive self-affirming statements!

2. I resolve to drink more water. This is an important one that sadly is a bit difficult for me to do. So I resolve to drink more water each day and to drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day or more!

3. Number three has a direct relationship to resolution #2 because it relates to how I will carry my water! As you know there are so many potential hazards when it comes to drinking water out of plastic. The plastic can break down, many plastics still contain BPA, and you also have to worry about bacteria that can be lurking in the “cracks” that are created if you are continuously washing your plastic water bottles or containers. So Resolution #3 is to try to eliminate all plastic from my life starting first with my water bottles and straws.
BRK has some great glass bottles with silicone cases (to prevent breakage) and I am going to be picking up a few so I can make sure I always have my water with me and in a plastic free container.

I also hope to replace my plastic drinking straws with stainless steel straws that are very beautiful and functional and keeps to the theme of plastic elimination! I think I will go into a blog about how to eliminate plastics from your life because you would probably be surprised how much plastic we are using and throwing out every day…. which is not good for us or the environment!

4. Detox – I have always wanted to do some kind of a detox, whether that be a juice cleanse or whatever the case may be, and in the past I haven’t really bought into the whole “detox” thing because I believe that our bodies are remarkable things and can detox all on their own… However, I think I may need a little push to get me started with my “put better things in my body” resolution from above. So I am going to do at least one detox this year and I will take you along in the process! I am not sure I am ready for a complete elimination of sugar, caffeine or salt so let’s start small for now!

5. Do something meaningful for others… whether that be volunteering or donating something more than money to charity… I haven’t found out exactly what I want to do or for what cause YET, but I am resolving to do something meaningful for someone else in 2018?

6. I resolve to be a positive role model for my daughter!
This one is a tough one as well because those terrible twos have started and I can lose my patience from time to time. However, I resolve and intend, not just this year, but every year to be a positive role model for my daughter and to always be patient and kind. Someone she can look up to and be proud to call me mom! I want to show her what a strong woman is and how to always stay true to herself!

7. Continue to be an educator/ambassador in the world of green beauty. With the world filled with horrible diseases, cancer etc. I think its important and I resolve to continue this quest to help educate all of you with the wonderful green beauty, skincare and lifestyle choices that can replace the toxic ones out there! This may be a challenge because sometimes I might not have the time to post blogs as frequently as I would like to and social media can be an interesting place but I will do my best to bring the “little” knowledge that I have come to acquire in my green beauty quest!

So that’s it for now. These resolutions aren’t very “big” but they are important to me! I will probably revise/add little goals throughout the year because these are pretty broad resolutions but I think it’s a pretty good start!
I will also take you through my journey throughout the year and revisit these resolutions from time to time to help keep myself on track!
SIMPLY TRULY JENNY… xoxo
