Dry Shampoo can really help save you time in the morning especially if you press the snooze button one to many times or have a toddler running around like I do!!!
All you need to do is spray or shake in a little dry shampoo and voila you can go from a greasy mess to photo ready in a matter of seconds.
As a rule I try to shampoo and condition my hair only twice a week, especially in the dry winter months. So to avoid wearing ponytails or hats for the majority of the week I use dry shampoo in between hair washings to keep my hair fresh!
I loved using Cake Dry Shampoo and even though this is a better option than some because they eliminate talc, parabens, sulfates and phthalates from their products it still rates a 9 on the Think Dirty app… Fragrance was the main culprit. As you may know it's important to stay clear of anything that lists "Fragrance" or "Perfume" in the ingredient list because we simply don’t know what this “fragrance” label means. It could be a whole host of toxins which could lead to immune system disruption, reproductive issues... even cancer! The other harmful ingredient in this dry shampoo is Phenoxyethanol which is a toxin to the skin and an immune/organ and central nervous system disruptor).

Since I try to toss out all products rating 7 and above, as well as the ones that list fragrance among their ingredients, this Dry Shampoo had to go!
I had read all the rave reviews about the Captain Blankenship’s Mermaid Dry Shampoo so I decided to try it out for myself! And while it doesn’t have an official rating on the Think Dirty App it does have a very clean and short ingredient list!
Organic Arrowroot Powder mattifies greasy hair and adds volume.
Aluminum Free Baking Soda absorbs oil and adds freshness.
Organic Essential Oils of Rose Geranium and Palmarosa create a beachy rose smell.

Captain Blankenship’s Mermaid Dry Shampoo is described as “a miracle worker and the perfect solution to lifeless, unwashed hair. With a powerful combination of powders to absorb oil, add volume and give life to your hair, plus it smells amazing". Sprinkle a little in whenever your hair needs an instant pick me up.
After trying it out myself I can attest to this claim. It added a bit of volume to my hair… took away the greasies and didn’t leave any residue in my hair and I love the smell! The scent is very light and fresh!
You can just sprinkle it directly into your hair but I prefer to sprinkle it into my hands first and then run my hands through my scalp and that’s it…. it honestly saves me from washing my hair every other day and saves me valuable time in the mornings especially with my toddler running around. And with my little mini me following my every move I don’t mind when she asks me to put a little dry shampoo in her hair because I know its free of chemicals, parabens and talc!
You can purchase this dry shampoo directly from the Captain Blankenship website for $14.00 for a 2 oz travel size or $24.00 for a 4 oz full size. You can even purchase it online from Sephora, Clementine Fields or Well.ca.

Now I can say bye bye to hats and ponytails for good, unless of course its a fashion statement!
SIMPLY TRULY JENNY...
