Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last 10 years I am sure you have heard of MoroccanOil…. I honestly didn’t think much about this product when I was considering my switch to go green because after all its an oil and oils are supposed to be natural right???? Sadly I was duped again....

One day I innocently decided to search MoroccanOil on Think Dirty, thinking it was about a 3 or a 4 and to my horror it scored a 10! What!!! how can this be.... another one of my cherished items had to be tossed!

Not only is it a 10 on the Think Dirty App but the top 3 ingredients listed in the product are very toxic... D&C Red-17 is a class 3 carcinogen and it has been recommended that you avoid using it whenever possible, fragrance could be 1 or several of the 3000 chemicals that go into adding scent to a product and Cyclomethicon is a silicone based product!

After discovering how bad MoroccanOil is I started researching a lot of different hair oils before committing to one.... and I found the ultimate multitasking oil that is not only beneficial for the hair but also for the skin, lips and nails… what is this miracle oil you ask…. good old fashioned Argan Oil.

Argan Oil has been used for centuries by people all over the world because of its healing and anti-aging properties. It's rich in vitamin A and E, Omega-6 fatty acids and linoleic acid.

I have to admit using Argan Oil as a leave-in conditioner has been a bit of a learning process for me. You have to make sure not to use to much or your hair will get heavy and weighed down.

You can experiment with a half a drop (on wet or dry hair), for short hair, or 1-3 drops for longer hair. Since Argan Oil can also stimulate hair growth be sure to massage it into the scalp. After I apply it to my wet hair I rub the excess into my décolletage area because it’s a natural anti-aging product, as well, and is very moisturizing.

For drier or chemically processed hair you can use it as an overnight deep conditioning treatment. You would start by massaging 4-10 drops of oil into the scalp and massaging through the hair to your ends. Then you would place your hair in a bun on the top of your head or better yet under a shower cap so the heat from your head can help to penetrate the oil. After a good night’s sleep make sure to thoroughly wash your hair to get all of the oil residue out. Although I haven't tried this out yet I am looking forward to!

I am finding the Argan Oil is actually improving my hair far better than the MoroccanOil ever did. It leaves my hair silky smooth and tangle free. I don't even have to use a separate leaving in conditioner when I apply the Argan Oil first.

I purchase my Argan Oil from Earth to Body because I also use their Revitalizing Eye Oil and have been using that for about 7+ years with great results. You can check out their website here. They not only have a wide range of natural skincare products but they are very reasonably priced. My 30 mL Argan Oil cost me $20 which is about the same amount for MoroccanOil but it's a much cleaner option and has sooo many more benefits and uses….

Isn’t it time you toss out your old dirty hair oils and give Argan Oil a try!
