Test it Out Thursday - ILIA Lipsticks

I like most woman get obsessed with trying out different lipstick colours. Every season new colours are added to my collection and I love how you can transform your look with just a single swipe of color to the lips!

Drugstore brands like Covergirl, Maybelline and Revlon can be affordable but at what price? Do you know how many harmful chemicals are in your drugstore lipsticks?

Since lipsticks are applied directly to the lips we are ingesting these products and the chemicals that are in them! Chemicals like fragrance, Methylparaben, propylparaben, which as you know are estrogen disruptors and can mimic cancer cells and have been linked to breast cancer. And if you have an affinity for wearing red lipstick you have to be particularly careful because this colour contains additional chemicals (lake dyes) to deliver that vibrant red colour!

Most of these drugstore brands are a very dirty 9 or 10 on the Think Dirty App!

Luckily for us ladies there are many many options for cleaner lipstick products. A great one I have discovered is ILIA lipstick and lip conditioner!

I was also pleasantly surprised that I could purchase Ilia from the online store at Sephora! I was so excited I decided to buy one lipstick and one lip conditioner, lol.

I chose Pink Kashmir and Shell Shock to help get me summer ready!

Lipstick in Pink Kashmir – This is definitely the perfect colour for summer! I thought it was going to be a bit more bold, its still bold, don’t get me wrong, but its more of a bubblegum pink as opposed to a fuschia pink like I was expecting! This lipstick is quite moisturizing as well however its more matte then the lip conditioner! On my lipstick wish list is Neon Angel and In My Room.

Lip Conditioner in Shell Shock – Wow I was not expecting a lip conditioner to be so pigmented! You can swipe once for a sheer brush of colour or swipe a few times to build a darker hue of colour on your lips. This is a bright corally pink which I love for spring and summer. I would say I am enjoying the consistency of this lip conditioner more so then the lipstick. Its just very moisturizing and it has a slight shine to it, not like a lip-gloss but more so then a lipstick, its a bit hard to describe! On my lip conditioner wish list is Nobody’s Baby or Blossom Lady.

After reading some information on the Ilia website, I did something that I normally don’t do! I mixed the two colours together and I liked them even more as a duo!!!.

I am super excited about this brand and I want to try out all the colours. You can purchase them from Sephora for $31.00 for a lip conditioner and $34.00 for a lipstick. NOTE: I just discovered this brand is also carried at the Detox Market in Toronto or online and of course you can always purchase them directly from the Ilia website!

Ilia also makes beautiful lip glosses as well and i can't wait to try them next, “The Butterfly and I” and "Peek-a-Boo" have me intrigued! I will keep you posted on other colours I try in upcoming posts!
