Test it Out Thursday - Dryer Balls

I love my clothes to come out of the dryer fluffy and static free but what I didn’t like was the chemical ingredients in the commercial dryer sheets. These things are full of chemicals which can directly affect our central nervous system. OMG sometimes I still can’t believe how common everyday items can be so bad for us. Take a look of some of these ingredients in dryer sheets!

Alpha Terpineol, Benzyl Alcohol, Ethyl Acetate, Penetane, Camphor, Chloroform, Linalool and Dichlorobenzene. These chemicals can cause central nervous system disorders, headaches dizziness, nausea and vomiting. Some can also cause confusion, convulsions, loss of muscle coordinator and activity, loss of consciousness and sometimes death ….Um yeah I said Death people. I know some of these health concerns are seem pretty extreme and you would probably need an excessive amount of these chemicals to have some of these effects but better to be safe than sorry!

When I starting looking for chemical free options I saw these Woolite Clothes Dryer Balls in the aisle of my local grocery store and decided to give them a try!

They promise to:

• Help your clothes to come out of the dryer feeling soft

• Reduce drying time

• Reduce Static

• Eco-friendly

• Reusable

• Saves you money in the long run

They come in a two pack which costs about $10 but it's recommended that if you have a heavy laundry load you should use 4-6 balls!

So far I have had great success with these Woolite Clothes Dryer balls. They do seem to reduce static but I am not sure they reduce drying time.

If your sceptical about these Wollite Dryer Balls there is a “do it yourself” dryer ball version you can make at home! Apparently wrapping tennis or ping pong balls in foil and adding them to the dryer has the same effect as the store bought ones. I haven’t personally tried this trick out yet but it’s definitely worth a try!
