Toss it Out Tuesday - Drugstore Foundation

As I mentioned in a previous blog, finding a cleaner foundation was one of my primary goals when I started this journey. And since foundation is a product I use almost everyday I didn’t want all the toxic, hormone disrupting and carcinogenic chemicals going onto my face and therefore an important product to replace! At first it was a difficult task to find a great foundation that performed the way I wanted it to but I have found my holy grail foundation with Lauren Brooke. I do alternate between a few other foundation “runner ups" that I have found but I am sure this foundation will be in my make-up bag for a long time!

Lauren Brook Foundation, Concealer in the middle and a sample of her Foundation on the far right... Just for size comparison sake!
I can’t tell you how much I love this foundation, it is so creamy, it glides on to my skin effortlessly and provides me exceptional coverage that lasts all day! Not only that but it also provides a natural 28 SPF because of the zinc oxide in it!
I have tried several other organic foundations but I seem to keep coming back to Lauren Brooke time and time again! It’s the only one so far that provides the best coverage, doesn’t create dry flaky patches and doesn’t settle into my fine lines!
Best of all it doesn’t contain Clyclotetrasiloxane, methylparaben, proplyparaben, phenolyethanol or Peg-10 dimethicone like many of the other foundations do!

Here are all the colour selections, as you can see there is a wide range of colour choices!
Take a look at some of the skin loving Key Ingredients below.
Beeswax: Hydrating ingredient that increases the skin's essential moisture.
Argan Oil: Rich in Fatty Acids. Protects skin against pollution & sun exposure.
Silica: Creates a soft, finished look reducing appearance of large pores, fine lines & wrinkles.
Phytolipid Complex: Jojoba, Rosehip, Neem & Vitamin E Oil. Moisturizing, nourishing & regenerative.
Green Tea: Antioxidant. Phenol & Vitamin C rich.
Zinc Oxide: Anti-inflammatory, emollient. Reduces and supports the healing of epidermal irritation, protects against UVA rays, soothes the skin.
The trouble I find I with most foundation is that they are very dying to my skin. I find that they settle in to fine lines, wrinkles and just “flake” off my face. Mind you I am going to be 41 in July so technically I have... let’s just say “mature-ing” skin. With Lauren Brooke’s foundation I have to say that I have none of these problems! The coverage is light to medium and it provides a nice dewy coverage that lasts all day and doesn’t settle into my fine lines! A definite plus for me. I also use this foundation on my eyelids as an eye shadow primer and my eye shadows last all day long! I do set my foundation and concealer with Lauren Brooke finishing powder to give it that extra staying power! The website recommends using Lauren Brooke blending sponge however I apply the foundation with my fingers and it seems to work great for me!
One other thing worth mentioning is that Lauren Brooke's foundations are packaged in glass jars which means you don't have to worry about any plastic chemicals from the container breaking down or seeping into your product!!

Colours from left to right are Cool 10, Neutral 10, Neutral 20 (which is the colour I am using on my face) and Warm 20. Cool shades work best for pink/red skin tones, Neutral shades are good for all skin types but also help to tone down redness and Warm shades are great for olive skin tones or those with yellow undertones.
Currently I am using Neutral 20 but I can use Neutral 10 and Cool 10!
You can also purchase samples of Lauren Brooke foundations so you can be sure you get a perfect match and I will say that the samples easily last you a week or two of everyday use! The samples cost 2 dollars Canadian directly from Lauren’s site and also 2 dollars a sample from the Raindance website… which is a online store in Canada and will save you a few bucks on shipping and exchange rate costs (just note these samples are not as ample as on the Lauren Brooke website!) The cost of a full size foundation is $40.00! Of course remember if you use this link you will receive 10% off your entire purchase!!!! Even if you are just purchasing sample sizes!
I will do a review shortly on Lauren Brooke concealer which I am loving as well!
Simply Truly Jenny...
